MEDAN, kedannews.co.id – Sekretaris Daerah Provinsi (Sekdaprov) Sumatera Utara (Sumut), Togap Simangunsong, meminta Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan Sumut untuk terus berperan aktif dalam mengendalikan inflasi. Permintaan ini disampaikan saat kunjungan kerja ke Kantor Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan Sumut, di Jalan AH Nasution Medan, Kamis (4/9/2025).
Menurut Togap, berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Sumut hingga Agustus 2025, daging ayam ras masih menjadi salah satu komoditas penyumbang inflasi. Selain beras dan bawang merah, daging ayam ras tercatat menyumbang inflasi sebesar 0,12% (month to month).
“Saya melihat berdasarkan data, Sumut sebenarnya mengalami surplus daging ayam ras sebesar 61.526 ton dari total kebutuhan 218.239 ton dengan produksi mencapai 279.766 ton. Namun meskipun surplus, tetap ada permasalahan dari sisi distribusi, kestabilan harga, hingga keterjangkauan bagi masyarakat,” ujar Togap.
Ia menegaskan, Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan Sumut harus aktif memantau pasokan dan harga. Bila ada potensi kelangkaan atau lonjakan harga, langkah cepat harus segera diambil melalui koordinasi dengan pemangku kepentingan dan lintas OPD di lingkungan Pemprov Sumut.
Lebih lanjut, Togap juga menekankan pentingnya menjaga rantai distribusi, meningkatkan produksi lokal, serta memperkuat sinergi antara petani, peternak, dan pemerintah. “Dinas harus menjadi garda terdepan menjaga stabilitas harga pangan dan mendukung upaya pengendalian inflasi,” tambahnya.
Sementara itu, Kepala Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan Sumut, Zakir Syarif Daulay, menjelaskan kondisi terkini sektor perkebunan dan peternakan. Ia menyebut luas perkebunan rakyat di Sumut mencapai 2,1 juta hektare, dengan komoditas unggulan seperti kelapa sawit, karet, kopi, kakao, dan kelapa dalam.
“Namun sektor perkebunan rakyat masih menghadapi tantangan, seperti akses permodalan yang terbatas, penerapan teknologi budidaya yang rendah, serta fluktuasi harga pasar,” kata Zakir.
Di sektor peternakan, kata Zakir, wilayah Karo, Dairi, dan Simalungun fokus pada budidaya sapi perah dan kambing, sementara di pesisir banyak dikembangkan ternak itik dan ayam kampung. Untuk ketersediaan pangan hewani, Sumut tercatat surplus daging sapi 10.959 ton, daging ayam ras 61.526 ton, dan telur ayam 473.249 ton. Namun untuk susu, Sumut masih kekurangan sekitar 675,9 juta liter dari total kebutuhan 684,1 juta liter.
Untuk mengatasi persoalan tersebut, berbagai strategi telah diterapkan, antara lain penggunaan bibit unggul, praktik budidaya modern, dan hilirisasi produk melalui pengolahan lokal.
“Dinas siap mendukung program Asta Cita Presiden melalui upaya swasembada pangan dan energi, serta mendukung visi-misi Sumut Berkah dalam menjaga stabilitas ekonomi yang berkelanjutan,” tegas Zakir.
Turut hadir dalam kegiatan ini para pejabat eselon, Kepala UPT melalui zoom, serta jajaran staf Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan Sumut.
